Questions & answers

Everything about Plannerly: the recipes, how we check supermarket prices, the free planning tools and our guides.

Recipes

Free, easy UK meals, desserts and bakes.

Are the recipes really free?

Yes. Every recipe on Plannerly is free to read, print and cook. There's no sign-up and no account.

How many people does a recipe feed?

Each recipe says how many it serves. Use the 'Cooking for' buttons (1 to 8 people) and the amounts, packs to buy and prices all update.

Can I freeze the meals?

Many of them, yes. Recipes that freeze well are marked Freezer-friendly, and you can filter for them on the recipes page. Cool food quickly, freeze it in portions, defrost in the fridge and reheat until piping hot.

Do you have vegetarian recipes?

Yes. Use the Vegetarian filter on the recipes page to see them all.

Are there desserts and bakes?

Yes. Open Recipes and choose 'Desserts & baking' in the menu on the left to see cakes, cookies, crumbles and more, all priced the same way as the meals.

Do you show allergens?

Each recipe lists which of the 14 main allergens its usual ingredients contain. Brands differ, so always check the labels on what you buy.

What does Diabetes-friendly mean?

It marks recipes with no added sugar, 45g of carbs or less and plenty of fibre per serving. Carbs and sugars are estimates for carb counting, not medical advice. If you have diabetes, follow your GP or dietitian's advice.

Are the calories exact?

No, they're estimates for a typical version of each ingredient, so treat them as a guide.

Prices & supermarkets

How we check what your shop really costs.

How do you check supermarket prices?

We look up each ingredient's shelf price at up to 6 UK supermarkets, using the supermarkets' own listings and price-comparison sites. Every price is read off its page, never guessed, and each recipe shows the date it was checked.

Which supermarkets do you compare?

At the moment: Asda, Co-op, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco. A supermarket appears on a recipe once every ingredient has a checked price there, and more prices are added every day.

Why isn't Lidl included?

Lidl doesn't sell groceries online or publish its shelf prices, so there's no reliable price we can check. We'd rather leave it out than guess.

Why might the price in my shop be different?

Prices change, offers come and go, and some supermarkets charge differently online and in store. Loyalty-card prices aren't included. Use our figures to compare shops, then check the shelf price when you buy.

What's the difference between the basket total and the cost per serving?

The basket total is what you pay at the till for full packs. 'Cost of what this recipe uses' and 'per serving' only count the part of each pack the recipe needs, which is fairer when you'll use the rest another day.

How often are prices updated?

Every recipe's prices are re-checked about once a week, and the date is shown on the recipe.

Can I choose which supermarkets to compare?

Yes. On any recipe, tap the supermarkets you use and the prices and totals update. Your choice is remembered in your browser.

Is Plannerly paid by the supermarkets?

No. We're independent. Supermarkets don't pay us, and we don't change any prices or rankings.

Planning your week

Free tools to shop once and waste less.

How does Plan my week work?

Pick a few recipes and how many people each is for. You get one combined shopping list showing how many packs to buy, what will be left over and which supermarket is cheapest for the whole shop.

What is 'What's in my fridge?'

Tick what you already have and it shows recipes that use it up, so less goes in the bin.

What is 'Cheapest meals this week'?

A list of the recipes that cost the least per serving at the moment, using the latest checked prices.

What's the 'From your cupboard' list on a recipe?

Small amounts of things most kitchens already have, like spices, oil or stock cubes. They aren't in the prices, so tick them off before you shop.

Guides & orders

Printable PDF guides, paid for securely.

What do I get when I buy a guide?

A PDF you can download straight after paying, print at home on A4 or read on any device. It's yours to keep, with no subscription.

How do I download my guide?

Straight after paying you're taken to your download page. Save the PDF to your phone or computer so you always have it. If anything goes wrong, email rhysh1264@gmail.com and we'll sort it out.

Is checkout secure?

Yes. Payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see your card details.

Can I get a refund?

Because guides are digital and download straight away, the 14-day cancellation right ends once you download. If a file is faulty or won't open, email us and we'll replace it or refund you.

Is there a discount for buying several guides?

Yes. The complete collection includes every guide for £49.99 instead of £139.79 bought one by one.
